Take Pride In Your Sexuality With NOH8 (No Hate) Campaign

Nothing great has been achieved without a little fight. History is proof to that. Be it Nelson Mandela fighting against apartheid in South Africa, Martin Luther King fighting for the civil rights of black Americans or feminists fighting for women's right to vote. Every great cause requires a great movement. So let's talk about the pride movement andthe NOH8 (No Hate) campaign.

Let's pride ourselves on being whoever we desire to be and loving whoever we want. Let's talk about true human equality, gender equality and the right to marry who we want. Let's speak up against discrimination of all kinds. Let's fight hatred with love.

"If people can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." ― Nelson Mandela

Mandela may have said these inspiring words in relation to the apartheid movement, but it resonates even today. Love comes more naturally to people than hate. If humans can hate with so much intensity, imagine how much love they are capable of and let's not forget that Mandela managed to abolish apartheid after a long struggle.

People resist what they don't understand. But we have to stand together irrespective of our religion, sexual orientation, and gender for equality and the right to love. The struggle is on and change will surely come because everyone deserves love and should have the freedom to love whoever they want.

Be a part of the NOH8 campaign by uploading a picture with duct tape over your mouth, symbolizing your voice being silenced and NOH8 painted on one cheek in protest.

1. You Are Accepted, You Are Worthy, You Belong

Your sexual orientation doesn't make you any less human. Even if the people around you are intolerant towards you for being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or queer, remember there is a huge community of people who accept you for you. Don't let anyone make you feel worthless for your choices and know that you belong. Say yes to No Hate!

2. Who You Are Matters, Your Voice Matters

Take pride in who you are and stand up for what you believe in so that the next generation does not have to worry about coming out to their parents and loved ones and they don't have to pretend to be someone else. Be you because that is exactly what the world needs. You matter. Your voice matters. 

3. Equality Includes Everyone 

Equality is for everyone irrespective of sexuality, gender, race and religion. You cannot be stripped of your right to be who you want or love who you want. Do not tolerate hate. Fight for equality and LGBTQ rights! 

4. If Hate Still Exists, Our Job Is Not Done 

Believe that you can do away with the hatred in the world. Respond to hate with love. As Martin Lurther King Jr. said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." 

5. Stand For Freedom, Stand For Equality, Stand For Love

Irrespective of your sexuality, stand up for the freedom of each human to love and marry who they want, stand up for the equality of sexes and the equality to be who they want to be and love who they want to love. Most importantly, stand up for love because love is all there is. 

6. Regardless of sexuality, gender, nationality, religion and race, we are all human.

We are all human - gay, straight, transgender, queer, bisexual, male, female, Hindu, Muslim, Catholic. Despite what we choose to believe in, we are all humans and deserve to be treated like humans. 

7. To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity - Nelson Mandela

It is your human right to be who you want to be and to love who you want to. As Nelson Mandela says denying human beings this basic right to be themselves is challenging their very existence.

8. Hate: it has caused many problems in the world but has not solved one yet - Maya Angelou 

Hate has been the core of problems in the past and will be the core of problems in the future if we do not do away with it. Don't hate someone because you don't understand them or their beliefs. Don't let your social norms stand in the way of someone’s harmless identity or sexuality. We're all different. Be accepting of each other's uniqueness. Say no to hate.
